Tanjiro Kamado vive feliz con su madre y hermanos pequeños en la montaña, subsistiendo humildemente. Una mañana, al regresar a casa, se encuentra a toda su familia asesinada y a su hermana Nezuko convertida en demonio. Tanjiro buscará desesperadamente la manera de devolverla a su condición humana y de cobrarse venganza. Para ello, se someterá a un arduo entrenamiento, con el objetivo de ingresar en el Cuerpo de Matademonios y dar caza al demonio Muzan Kibutsuji, con la ayuda de Nezuko, que se resiste a perder del todo su humanidad.
