Modellata su Stoccolma e Lisbona, la città in cui Kiki approda a cavallo della sua scopa volante è il luogo dello smarrimento e dell'emancipazione, in cui l'eroina è da un lato costretta ben presto a una necessaria e dura introspezione, ma può anche sentirsi accettata nonostante la sua diversità; il luogo in cui, attraverso il duro lavoro, conquistare la propria matura autonomia.
