C'est la servante et « mère » du bébé, Hildegarde, qui, venant à sa rencontre pour tenter de reprendre le bébé, le lui révèle après avoir vu que Baby Beel ne voulait pas le lâcher. Hilda lui dit qu'il est lié par un contrat avec Beel et l'informe qu'il mourra s'ils sont séparés de plus de 15 mètres. Ne voulant pas assumer sa charge paternelle et ses responsabilités, Oga cherche à donner Baby Beel à quelqu'un d'autre, ce qu'il peut faire si cette personne est plus forte et plus mauvaise que lui. Établissant un lien avec l'histoire de son oncle, Mashiro, fort troublé, lui dit alors, machinalement : « Si nous arrivons à réaliser notre rêve, voudras-tu m'épouser ? » Par chance, elle accepte, mais à condition qu'ils ne se voient plus jusqu'à ce que leur rêve soit devenu réalité. Mashiro et Akito se lancent alors dans la folle aventure de créer un manga à succès, avec le soutien de la famille de Mashiro qui lui confie les clés de l'atelier de son oncle défunt. Les deux adolescents se consacrent ainsi à l'écriture d'un manga et découvrent l'univers de l'édition manga au Japon, avec ses joies et ses déconvenues.

Attratta da tale fama, Lucy Heartphilia, una giovane maga degli Spiriti Stellari, parte per accedere a Fairy Tail; durante il suo viaggio, si imbatte in Natsu Dragonil, un mago del fuoco di Fairy Tail alla ricerca del drago Igneel, insieme al suo fidato compagno, il gatto volante Happy. Essi la introducono nella gilda; Lucy conosce così molti altri membri: dal mago del ghiaccio Gray Fullbuster, rivale di Natsu fin dall'infanzia, alla maga guerriera Elsa Scarlett, denominata Titania (regina delle fate). In mezzo a loro Lucy impara che fiducia e amicizia legano tutti i membri della gilda in una grande famiglia.
