Queen Anne’s lace
I think this was the flower that was in a bouquet mum made for her friend’s birthday. I thought it was stinky.

Wisteria
My favourite in the whole garden. I love how they move in the wind and crawl up the porch frame.

Borage
Another edible flower! Also found it bitter. I loved the blue but found the fuzziness of the plant off putting as a kid.

Gooseberry
This sat in a on on a little table outside. I would often play with the lantern-like flowers and later after they deteriorated I was fascinated by the lantern skeleton.

Pansies
Planted by the mint, I always thought they looked like moustached generals.

Nasturtiums
Lovely bright colours and edible! Mum put them in salads but I found them too bitter.

Sweetpeas
Potentially another favourite of grandma’s. My mum often called me sweetpea, I miss it very much.

Freesia
According to mum, these were grandma’s favourite. They were planted in front of the porch door and their scent was so delicately sweet. I love it to this day.

Lily of the valley
The sweetest daintiest flowers. I was always drawn to these but they only grew in the dark cold part of the garden so I didn’t visit them often.

Forget me nots
Mum had blue and white ones. I used to pick these to create bouquets for my toys to get married with.

Cosmos
While shopping together I asked my mum if we could plant Cosmos on Cosmo’s grave. He was mum’s favourite cat and soulmate.
