
techno-orientalism: why are cyberpunk dystopias so asian?
A few years ago, I became fascinated by Hong Kong and its influence on the cyberpunk genre, both aesthetically and politically. I ended up writing an essay for uni titled “Techno-Orientalism: Why are cyberpunk dystopias so Asian?” and have curated a list of the sources and inspiration I used to write it—as well as other Hong Kong or cyberpunk related things I find interesting.
