Kunden macht er durch Werbekritzeleien bzw. -graffiti in öffentlichen Toiletten und an Häuserwänden auf sich aufmerksam und wäre das nicht schon deprimierend genug, kündigt ihm auch noch seine göttliche Waffe den Dienst. In dieser Situation rettet ihn die Schülerin Hiyori vor einem herannahenden Auto, wird dabei aber selbst von diesem angefahren. Wieder genesen, versucht sie Yato wiederzufinden, muss bei einem Zwischenfall aber feststellen, dass sich ihre Seele seit dem Unfall zwischen ihrer Welt und dem Jenseits befindet, wodurch sie auch über besondere Kräfte verfügt. Sie beschließt, mit Yato zusammenzuarbeiten und ihm dabei zu helfen, die Bedrohung für die Menschen zu bekämpfen.
