Knižní román napsala v roce 1946 známá anglická spisovatelka Elizabeth Goudgeová, získal i významné ocenění Carnegie Medal. Seriálové formy se jeho příznivci mohli dočkat roku 1994 - seriál se jmenoval Malý bílý koníček (Moonacre) a představitelku Marie Merryweatherové si zahrála Camilla Power, která např. nadabovala anglickou Alenku z Švankmajerova díla Něco z Alenky (1988). Tohoto filmového zpracování se ujal maďarský režisér Gábor Csupó, známý díky režii Mostu do země Terabithia (2007). Představitelkou Marie Merryweatherové je mladá Dakota Blue Richards, která ztvárnila paličatou Lyru z filmu Zlatý kompas (2007).
